Father’s Day is fast approaching, and at USANA®, we are joining in the celebration of dads! Here’s to our USANA Dads, our Kiwi dads and dads across the globe!

What better way to celebrate Father’s Day than to hear from the men themselves. Get to know the USANA Australia and New Zealand corporate team a little more and get the warm fuzzies as you read these special family moments from our USANA Corporate Staff Dads.

Haydn Walker

Operations Manager, Australia and New Zealand

Haydn and family

There have been so many proud moments and family trips, but I’ve picked a family holiday we went on last year to Fiji, Treasure Island. My wife and I celebrated our eighth wedding anniversary whilst over there and on the day of our anniversary we took a scenic helicopter tour around the island with our kids. It was such an amazing holiday, spending our time swimming, fishing, snorkelling, out on jet skis and just relaxing around the pool. The snorkelling I did with my 6 year old son was a great experience and I loved seeing how excited he was to see the coral and sea life.

It was also a great laugh when my wife, our two kids and I—kids aged six and three at the time—all piled into a two-person kayak and I paddled them around the island. I would do it all again tomorrow, as I’m sure anyone would.

Geoff Mulham

Geoff M and his family

Being a good Dad means that you have to be a good teacher as well, even if you ruffle a few feathers from time to time. ☺

My family moment is when we were travelling together a couple of months ago. I organised train tickets to an exhibition. “But Dad, why can’t we get a taxi or an Uber?”

Jason Ma

Field Development Coordinator, New Zealand

Jason and his family

This photo captured a special father and son moment from my wedding day, which was in January 2018. It was a sunny day without cloud! We looked at each other and we knew it was a new start for both of us. We have had many ups and downs in life, but we stay strong as a family.

I want to say “Thank you!” to my wife, for me, and for my son.

Like I always say, I am not teaching my son, we learn from each other and that is how we hold the family together and make ourselves stronger.

Robbie Goldin

International Controller – Asia Pacific Region

Robbie and family

A special family moment was on the 1st of July this year, when I competed in my first marathon at the Gold Coast. My family came along to support me. It was a wonderful experience to compete, but to experience this with my family was very special. I was indeed a very proud dad on the day.

Have You Got Father’s Day Sorted?

Father’s Day is a time we are grateful for our family and reflect on all the special moments we’ve shared with them—particularly dad! How do you celebrate? Breaky in bed, spending time with dad or a small gift?

As part of our dad celebrations, we have a limited-time only Men’s Celavive Tool Kit, featuring all the basics—available in August 2018 only. Treat dad today—visit the USANA New Zealand Shop!

They say women are from Venus and men are from Mars. When it comes to skincare, our different needs can seem worlds apart. We’ve got the low-down on USANA Celavive® for men, to have you lads looking fresh and handsome with a few simple steps.

Beyond the Clean Shave

USANA Celavive Foaming Cleanser not only lifts away the dirt, oil and sweat from a hard day’s work or after the gym, but you can also try it out as a shave cream for a close, smooth shave.

Pro Tip: Replace your razor after every 3-4 shaves to eliminate irritation.

Perfecting the Aftershave Tonic

After you’ve cleansed, use Perfecting Toner to help balance and refresh your skin for an energised and refreshed appearance. Toners are designed to cleanse and purify your skin, but they also help maintain proper moisture levels, and balance the pH levels in your skin.

If you don’t have any cotton pads handy, you can simply splash it onto your face using clean hands. Make sure you apply it to your neck as well as your face.

Pro tip: The USANA Celavive Perfecting Toner also works as a great aftershave tonic.

Double Duty

The USANA Celavive Moisturising Day Lotion and Day Cream pulls double duty—not only deeply hydrating your skin to keep you looking youthful, but also helping to protect it from sun damage and ageing with SPF 15.

Pro tip: Replenishing Night Cream and Replenishing Night Gel feature our exclusive InCelligence® Complex to revitalise the look of skin overnight.

Gut health is a vital part of a healthy diet and lifestyle. Everything you ingest must go through your digestive system, which, in turn, provides all the micro- and macronutrients your body’s cells need to function properly.

When we eat certain processed foods, the delicate microbe balance in the stomach can be disrupted and thrown out of whack. Obviously, you don’t want that. To help keep the right balance of microbes thriving in your gut, consider the following tips.

Cut back on sugars and starches

If you think you love sugar, it’s nothing compared to a bad bacteria’s sweet tooth. Sugar is their favourite food. To keep bad bacteria from building up in your gut, avoid consuming refined sugar or high fructose corn syrup. In addition, take care to reduce the amounts of starches you’re eating (think bagels and white bread, potatoes, etc.).

Nosh on whole, unprocessed foods

The healthier, whole foods you eat, the better. This would include fibrous fruits and veggies, beans, nuts, seeds, and whole grains.

Chow down on fermented and living foods

Fermented foods, such as yogurt or the latest health food trend, Kombucha (made through natural fermentation with good bacteria and fungi) can actually help to increase the rainforest of friendly bacteria in your gut.

Supplement with a good probiotic

This can go a long way in keeping your gut on track by repopulating healthy bacteria. Try taking USANA® Probiotic This probiotic supplement helps bring balance to your belly and digestive tract with a blend of good bacteria—Bifidobacterium BB-12 and Lactobacillus rhamnosus LGG.

Dull winter skin is not something we look forward to…EVER. Harsh weather can strip the skin, making it more dehydrated and sensitive. In spite of this, you can save yourself from gloomy skin with our expert tips. It’s time to flaunt soft, glowing skin!

1. Go Soap Free!

No, we aren’t suggesting you don’t wash. It is a chilly skin sin to use soap, especially on your delicate face. Try using a pea-sized amount of USANA Celavive® Creamy Foam Cleanser to wash away the day.

2. Don’t Get Too Hot & Steamy

Even the best of us enjoy a long steamy shower on the coldest nights. However, remember that hot water can irritate and dry out your skin. Okay, so we know you’re probably going to still have a hot shower every now and then, but try to cut down on shower time and not have the temperature up too high.  Swap this warm indulgence with a hot water bottle, your fluffiest blanket and herbal tea.

3. Hyaluronic Acid for the Winter Win

Use products with hyaluronic acid (Hi there, USANA Celavive® Perfecting Toner). It can hold 1,000x its weight in water.1 Can’t you just feel the hydration?

4. Whip out the Body Cream

We’re talking body! Apply a body cream straight after showering to lock in moisture. If you haven’t tried USANA®’s Firming Body Nourisher, now is the time! It nourishes and sweeps away dry skin with delicious ingredients like shea butter, Irish moss, mallow, whole grape and green tea extracts. Perfect to help counteract environmental exposure.

5. Always Wear SPF

Although it might not all be blue skies and rainbows, it’s still vital to wear SPF in winter. We might not feel the warmth—unfortunately—, but UVA and UVB rays can still damage your skin.

USANA Celavive® Moisturising Day Cream with Sunscreen (SPF15) is a great SPF moisturiser option with rich hydration or Moisturising Day Lotion with Sunscreen (SPF15) is perfect for lightweight, yet nourishing results. Both these products feature a botanical blend that has been clinically shown to provide 24 hours of rich hydration after just one application!

6. Drink More Water

Well, this one is kind of obvious, but it’s a crucial step in staying hydrated, and therefore keeping our skin looking healthy. Make sure you hydrate your skin from within by having your water bottle with you at all times so you can sip away thirst. If you struggle to drink enough water, you could try out our tasty fruit-infused water recipes!

7. Supplements for Your Skin!

Proflavanol® C 100 and BiOmega™ are two dietary supplements that should be a must for your daily beauty routine, helping you go beyond skin deep and maintain a healthy-looking complexion.

A deficiency in essential fatty acids can mean dry and dreary skin. Top up your fatty acids with a high quality fish oil, to help keep your skin hydrated and even help with inflammation.

If Proflavanol® C 100 isn’t on your skin wish list, then write it down! Vitamin C is great for helping to maintain healthy skin due to its antioxidant benefits and its role in collagen synthesis.

Skincare You Can Be Sure About

Find out more or shop for our advanced skincare range here and go beyond what you see!

Vitamin supplements should not replace a balanced diet. Use only as directed. Always read the label.

Nutrition is important at any age, especially for growing kiddies. We face new challenges in 2018, such as the vast selection of processed snacks available in stores, with added sugar and lacking in essential nutrients. Learn how you can support children’s nutritional needs and fuel them for the best future.

Four Reasons Why Good Nutrition Is Important For Kids

  1. Children never stop growing, from birth to the end of adolescence.
  2. Kilo for kilo, a five-year-old child needs more thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamins A and C, and vitamins B6 and B12 than a 25-year-old man.1
  3. Fuel for play periods that include running, jumping and testing of new physical skills.
  4. Nutrients in preparation for the accelerated growth spurts of the teen years.

Today’s Childhood Nutrition

One clinical study after another shows that our children do not receive all the nutrition they need from their diets. In addition to problems caused by high intake of fat, particularly saturated fat, many children are simply not getting enough of the essential nutrients.2 A 2016-2017 New Zealand Health survey found Nearly 100,000 children aged 2–14 years (12.3%) were obese.3

Less than 25% of young people eat the recommended five servings or more of fruits and vegetables each day. And nearly one-quarter of all vegetables consumed by children and adolescents are chips.4 Adequate amounts of key nutrients such as zinc, vitamin B6, magnesium and calcium are missing from the diets of more than 50% of children from 2 to 10 years old.5,6

Childhood nutrition is not only important for a child’s developing years. Maintaining optimal health is a lifelong challenge. More and more medical research is showing that it is the poor diet and bad habits that are established in childhood that may play a role in the development of degenerative diseases of middle and old age. With this in mind, it is important to focus today on maintaining a child’s health through proper eating patterns.7,8

Essentials for Children

Usanimals contain an array of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, in amounts designed especially for active, growing children.

Vitamins D and C, along with selenium and zinc, support normal and healthy immune function. Vitamins E and C are two of the most powerful antioxidants needed by the human body. Vitamin E is one of the most important antioxidants because it helps to maintain strong cell membranes.9-11 In addition to its antioxidant role, vitamin C is essential to form collagen in bones, cartilage, muscle and blood vessels. Advanced levels of calcium, with magnesium and vitamin D, play a key role in supporting normal healthy bone and skeleton structure, and strong teeth. Iron, iodine and B group vitamins support normal healthy energy production, which is so important for active children. Iodine along with zinc supports normal growth and development. Beta carotene supports healthy eyesight.

Usanimals have fun animal shapes stamped on the round, easy-to-eat chewable tablets, with a great Wild Berry flavour. They’re free of artificial flavours and sweeteners, to keep parents happy too!

Usanimals is now vegetarian safe. Usanimals is laboratory tested and quality guaranteed. It meets British Pharmacopoeia specifications for potency and uniformity where applicable.

Vitamins should not replace a balanced diet. USE ONLY AS DIRECTED. ALWAYS READ THE LABEL.
