This victory repositions Steve as the only athlete in world athletics to currently hold all five major titles – Olympic Games, World Championships, Commonwealth Games, World Indoor Championships and World Cup – a feat not yet achieved by any another Australian athlete.
Steve also holds the event record in three of the five major championships, a 5.96m Olympic record (2008), 5.80m Commonwealth Games record (2006) and 6.01m world indoor championship record (2010).His best effort of 6.06m, recorded in Boston in February 2009, sits just one position behind Sergey Bubka’s world record of 6.14m as the Australian, Commonwealth and Oceania records.
This 28 year old had his goals firmly in sight in 2010 and with his kind of determination, he has proved to be unstoppable! USANA is proud to be associated with Steve Hooker and look ahead to seeing more great things from this powerhouse athlete!

USANA Australia and New Zealand offices were cheering with the great news coming from Commonwealth Games 2010 at New Delhi!
Congratulations to Brent Newdick, who just won a silver medal in the decathlon event on Saturday, 9 October 2010. According to the New Zealand local media TVNZ, he was “stoked” with silver!
Brent has trained throughout the competition to go from being fourth at the last Commonwealth Games to achieving second place. We are so proud of him!

The Commonwealth Games starts in 3 days! So make sure you’ve got your cheering hats on! 2 of USANA‘s Sponsored Athletes will be competing this year. Decathlete, Brent Newdick for New Zealand and Pole Vaulter, Steve Hooker from Australia! (just a little bit of rivalry for the most Gold medals!) If you’re in New Zealand, curl up on the couch and switch to Prime at 1.30am and watch the Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games! It’s going to be spectacular being able to watching not only our countries elite athletes but USANA’s Sponsored Athletes competing for Gold!

Here’s some trivia for everybody, ‘deka’ is the Greek word for 10 and ‘athlos’ is the Greek word for contest. Put those words together in the English language and you get Decathlon. A contest, or event consisting of 10 track and field events!
It’s enough to make you swoon! But USANA Sponsored Athlete, Brent Newdick is a Decathlete and he’s a good one at that! Born and raised in New Zealand, Brent was ranked Number 1 at the Australian Open Track & Field Championships in 2009.
We can’t say “WOW” en
ough when it comes to Brent! He is training extensively for this year’s Commonwealth Games in Delhi and is New Zealand’s medal hope for the 2012 London Olympics. Amongst his latest achievements, Brent came 6th out of 35 competitors and placed 2nd in hurdles with a time of 14.88 at the Desenzano del Garda decathlon (beautiful place in Italy).

Great smile, great form, great guy, and he keeps jumping to new heights. USANA Sponsored Athlete, Steve Hooker is a 28 year old pole vaulting world champion and he’s just done it again. Expect to see this man in the stars because his latest world-leading pole vault height of 5.95m for the IAAF Continental Cup in Croatia is sending him soaring into the skies! Steve’s your typical Aussie, chilled and cool, cooks a mean risotto and he has his ups and downs like anyone. Just recently he faced some difficult challenges at competitions but the Gold at the IAAF Championships in Split, Croatia really restored his confidence, and just in time for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in October! Steve is an elite athlete in the world of pole vaulting, a Gold medal winner, Olympic record breaker and 14th in the world to clear 6 metres! He is also the Australian ‘Flame’ track & field team captain.
Steve is NUMBER ONE! He is the first Australian man to ever hold both the Olympic and world titles concurrently; first Australian field athlete to win Olympic gold in 60 years, the first Australian male track or field gold medalist since 1968 and t
he first Australian athletics Olympic champion since Cathy Freeman in 2000. WOW!
